The bishop is my friend.  He and his wife have hosted an uninterrupted flow of otherwise unwanted children through their home for over thirty years.  They don't bother with the child protection system.  They don't get financial assistance.  The children grow up and move on; some remembering and some not.  In Africa a man's worth is measured by the number of children he is a father to; biological or not.  Maybe that is why the Bishop is portrayed as Masa Musa, truly the richest man who ever lived, with his family surrounding him and the eyes of the ancestors behind them.

Carved on the arch of the throne is a St Thomas Aquinas quote:  "Prius vita quam doctrina".  "Life is more important than doctrine".
