Pierre-Auguste Renoir remains one of history’s most-loved painters—undoubtedly because his works exude such warmth, tenderness, and good cheer.  One excellent book about him calls him "painter of happiness".  And he did so many portraits of women and girls in blue dresses. Happy with themselves, not full of themselves.
